At LifeSpring Church we are beginning to put together the teams that are going to be the backbone for all of the ministries that we do. In order for us to have an effective launch, we are going to need our whole team to commit to serving on one, or multiple teams. We believe that it is normal for people to serve most Sundays. And serving is a good thing. We think that through serving others, and postering ourselves like Jesus, we will be able to reach our full potential in Christ.
The question then becomes, "where do I serve?" We are going to have a handful of different teams for people to serve on, so how do people know which team will be the best team for them to serve on? We should think about our spiritual gift and we should seek to align our gift with where we are serving. When we put our faith in Jesus, and when we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, God empowers us with a spiritual gift.
4 Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, 5 in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another. 6 According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one’s faith; 7 if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching; 8 if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness. - Romans 12:4-8
Now this gift (singular) could be made up of different gifts. For instance, God could give us the gifts of teaching, mercy, and administration. But our spiritual gift, the gift we receive from the Holy Spirit, is a singular gift that is a blend of all the gifts that we are given. In order to help people answer this question of "where we should serve", and "what is our gift" we think one of the best tools that we can point people towards is a spiritual gift assessment. This past Sunday during our team meeting we gave everyone the opportunity to take a spiritual gift assessment and we want to encourage anyone who was not here this past Sunday to still take it.
You can find the gift assessment at the following link:
In order for our pastors to better help serve and care for our team, we would also encourager you to forward your results to us after you have taken the survey. You can do this in two different ways. First, at the end of the survey there should be different methods for sharing your results. Click on the link that says "send results" and email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. Second, you will receive an email with a copy of your results and you can forward them to the same email address above.
Our hope is that through this process you will be introduced to yourself - at least part of the spiritual side of yourself. And as we begin to walk through all of the LifeSpring teams over the next couple weeks, we ask that you prayerfully consider where God can use you to serve, and serve in a way that is in alignment with how he has gifted and empowered you.
